F. Barnes & Son has had an established Family Department since the early 70's. The practice is extremely proud of its reputation in Family Law and relies very strongly on recommendations. F. Barnes & Son undertake Legal Aid/Publicly Funded work and indeed were one of the first firms in the area to obtain a Legal Aid franchise permitting them to undertake Legally Aided work. The practice undertakes a mix of both private and Legally Aided work. What also contributes to the success of the Family Department is that we will represent our clients ourselves at Court. Although this is not possible on all occasions the members of the Family Department regularly appear in Court and are familiar with Court procedure and practice.
F. Barnes & Son were also one of the first firms in the area to have a Law Society Family Panelist and a Solicitor's Family Law Association accredited specialist.
Tiina Juhanson qualifed as a solicitor in 1986 becoming a partner with the firm in 1991. She is head of the Family Department based at our Romford office. She has worked in family law for over 20 years specialising in divorce and financial settlement cases. Miss Juhanson has also trained as a mediator. She has been a Law Society Family Panel member and is now a Family Law Accredited Specialist.
