The Ministry of Justice is proposing to substantially increase Probate Court fees.
The present fee, whatever the value of the Estate, is £155.00 if made by a Solicitor and £215 if made by an individual. If the new fees are agreed then for an average Estate of between £300,000 to £500,000 the Probate Court Fee will rise to £1,000.
The increase in court fees are, apparently, to assist HM Courts and Tribunal Service move from a paper based system to a more friendly online system.
