About Us

60th Anniversary

The practice was established in 1955 by Frederick Barnes at 20 Eastern Road, Romford. It has come a long way since the early days but has always remained committed to serving Havering and the surrounding local communities.

In our 60th year F Barnes decided to show its commitment to sustainability and forward thinking and became a limited company in April. 2015 has also been a very busy year with the continual organisation of various events to help the local community and charities.

Our year began in January when we hosted a quiz night in aid of ‘St Francis Hospice’. In March we sponsored an event at Romford Golf club in order to raise money for Corbets Tey Special needs school, we also held free talks at Collier Row Library offering advice to the ‘Young at Hearts Group’.

In April we held an Easter Egg raffle at all three offices and donated the funds to help Corbets Tey with the cost of the refurbishment of their soft play area. In May we had the first of our ‘Open Day’ events at our Gidea Park office. The entire day was dedicated to offering free legal advice to anybody that needed help without commitment or appointment and was a great success.

In June we participated in the ‘Will Aid Fortnight’ for St Francis Hospice. Our Wills & Probate team dedicated two weeks to prepare wills for free and in return donations were made to the Hospice. This year we raised in excess of £3000 .

In July we thought we should commemorate the year with something for all the staff to enjoy and took the unprecedented step of closing the office for a day at Newmarket Races.

In September we held the second of our ‘Open Days’ at our Collier Row Branch once again offering free legal advice and a friendly welcome to anybody that needed our help.

The latest fundraising event was once again in aid of St Francis Hospice when we held a

‘Lawn Bowls’ event with several local businesses attending on the day. An auction was held amongst other things and a fantastic £1100 was raised for this wonderful cause.

November will see us supporting the Royal British Legion with their poppy appeal as we always do.

Other ways we have tried to make a difference is to sponsor the Romford Golf Clubs Charity Day, Leyton Orient Youth Academy, Way of the Roses Coast to Coast ride in aid of ‘ABF Soldiers Charity’ which gives lifetime support for Army families, the Romford Bowls Club and the Ultima Trampoline Club which is a local youth project in much need of funds.

In 2015 we also decided to offer support to ‘Cancer Research by joining their panel earlier this year and we are proud to be supporting this wonderful charity.

F Barnes will always endeavour to support the local community and are very pleased to be able to work with the various organisations that are in need of help.

It has been a wonderful year for us and we would like to thank everyone who has helped us celebrate!
