F Barnes host Havering Dementia Action Alliance Cream Tea

Some days our jobs give us great rewards at F Barnes. What better way to spend it than to help raise money for Havering Dementia Action Alliance and RITA therapy technology for dementia care. Well done to the winner of our free LPA or Mirror Wills and all thank you to everyone who contributed to this fundraiser at Romford Golf club who were truly amazing in their support.

We had a cream tea followed by a wonderful raffle and entertainment by Gill and Bob who volunteer to sing to other groups within the organisation such as the Memory Cafe. It was attended by over 120 people and representatives from F Barnes. Lots of support and dance along the way during this fabulous afternoon.

F Barnes have been members of the Havering Dementia Action Alliance for many years working collaboratively with groups within the borough that support people living with dementia and vulnerable elderly people. The work we do as a group is invaluable to the community.

We were raising money for RITA technology or Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities, which is a digital therapy system designed to support elderly patients, particularly those with cognitive impairments like dementia.  It allows patients to engage with familiar media and leisure activities through an interactive touch screen system. This technology has been shown to be effective in calming distressed or anxious patients, helping them to reconnect with aspects of their past by listening to music, watching news footage, and participating in games. RITA can also ne personalised with bespoke images and content to create a ‘life story’ collage, which is particularly helpful for patients with dementia.
